BDE—Basic Diagram Energy (part 3)

Ahoyhoy™,

In part two, we started applying my Base Case diagram to writer’s block. Specifically, we loosely mapped out Jean Doe’s path. We also noted how zooming in on a section of the diagram by one level increases the complexity and granularity of it. Today, we’ll map out Roybert’s path—well, at least start anyway…

Remember Roybert represents my characteristics (e.g. personality, temperament). More specifically, it represents my subconscious self—the reflexive part of me. I am and will be purposely using a third-person perspective when discussing Roybert as it helps me (and perhaps you) observe and dissect situations, actions, developments in general, etc. without losing myself in the hot mess I’ve labelled “P1″…

Fig. 5—Roybert’s path (simplified, Level 2)

Remember Level 1 was the entire diagram. Level 2 is zooming in once—relative to the Level 1 diagram. Level 3 would be zooming in once more, and so on…

  • S1 –> Actor(s) —contains the actors in the situation. Here though, we’re focussing exclusively on Roybert’s path.
  • A1 –> Roybert—the only actor here.
  • A1P1 –> I can’t believe it’s not writer’s block—I distinguish this from the trigger for Jean Doe: writer’s block. I’ve called it “I can’t believe it’s not writer’s block” because it looks like writer’s block upon first glance from an observer’s perspective absent context. P2 will help explain how context exposes the misconception…
  • S2 –> Processing—processing available information. Once again, we’re focussing exclusively on Roybert’s path right now.
  • P1 –> Thoughts, feelings and emotions, memories—please see Fig. 6
  • P1E1 –> My Action—freeze. Yes, this is the same action as Jean Doe’s for their path (P2).
  • S3 –> Resolution—the complete outcome incorporating all actors’ perspectives
  • E1 –> Outcome from my perspective—inner turmoil, no progress.

Now, we’ll tackle what I’ve been putting off: zooming in (Level 3 and onwards) on P1. Even now, I’m panicking and clearly balking at continuing with this unpleasantness… Given how I’m having a panic attack and am scrambling for excuses to leave my place right now, I’ll resume this in my next post…

For those who can’t quite understand why I’m still pursuing this, it’s like willfully putting my hand on a hot stove—yet realizing that it’s necessary for progress. I apologize for the abrupt end to today’s post.

Thank you for your time,
Roybert S. Henanigans

P.S. 96: I’ve updated my Contact Me page explaining how you can help me if you choose to. This includes a messaging form, my gmail address, my Twitter account, and a donation button to my Ko-Fi page. I’ll update specifics gradually. If there’s one thing I could ask for above all else, I’d ask for two—then I’d use one of those two to say that the best way to help is to share my work with someone.

On a serious note, thank you so much for reading—it truly means the world to me!
